Why Single-Ingredient, Freeze-Dried Treats Matter

  • Easier on sensitive stomachs — Fewer ingredients reduce the risk of digestive issues or allergies.
  • Nothing hidden — One ingredient means no fillers, no by-products, no mystery additives.
  • Minimally processed — Freeze-drying preserves nutrients without high heat or artificial preservatives.
  • Better taste — Locking in natural flavor makes them highly appealing — even for picky eaters.
  • Human-grade quality — Every ingredient meets the same safety and quality standards as food made for people.
  • Confidence you can feel good about — You know exactly what you’re feeding your dog, every time.

Why Muscle Meats

Just like humans need daily vitamins and minerals to stay healthy, dogs need real muscle meats — organ meats and heart muscles packed with naturally occurring taurine, CoQ10, iron, and B vitamins that kibble alone can’t provide. Each of our three treats targets different aspects of your dog's health.

🦬 Bison Liver — Immune · Coat · Skin

🐔 Chicken Heart — Heart · Muscle · Energy

🐄 Beef Heart — Joints · Mobility · Digestion

"Most dog owners assume treats are healthy — but many pet parents don't actually know what's inside the typical options lining store shelves. That's why K9 Krunch keeps things simple and transparent."

More FAQs

Why are chicken hearts considered a great training treat?

Three reasons trainers love them: they're naturally bite-sized so you don't have to cut them down, they have a strong aroma that holds a dog's focus under distraction, and they're high-value enough to keep dogs engaged through long sessions. For rapid-fire reward training, they're hard to beat.

My dog is allergic to chicken. Can I still feed these?

No — if your dog has a confirmed chicken allergy, skip this protein. Try our Bison Liver or Beef Heart instead. Bison in particular is a novel protein and tends to be well-tolerated by dogs with chicken sensitivities.

How many chicken hearts can I give per day?

Follow the feeding guide on the bag: roughly 3–5 pieces for small dogs, 5–10 for medium dogs, and 10–15 for large dogs. Treats should stay under 10% of your dog's total daily calories. Because chicken hearts are naturally lean (15% fat), they're a sensible option for dogs whose weight you want to monitor.

How should I store the bag once it's opened?

Reseal the bag tightly after each use and keep it in a cool, dry place — a pantry or cabinet works perfectly. No refrigeration needed. Use within 6–8 weeks of opening for best flavor and aroma. Unopened bags last up to 18 months.

What is taurine and why does it matter for my dog?

Taurine is an amino acid that supports heart, eye, and neurological health in dogs. Dietary taurine deficiency has been linked to certain heart conditions, and chicken hearts are among the richest natural food sources of taurine available. That means your dog gets a real nutritional benefit from the treat itself — not from a synthetic supplement added back in.

Best training treat I've ever bought

I've been training dogs professionally for 15 years and these are the highest-value reward I've found. Tiny pieces means I can give 30+ rewards in a single session without overfeeding. My clients have all switched after seeing my results.

My anxious rescue actually focuses now

Adopted a 4-year-old rescue with severe leash reactivity. We couldn't get past 5 minutes outside without him losing his mind. Started using chicken hearts for counter-conditioning and within 2 months we can walk past other dogs without an incident. The taurine is real.

Taurine for the heart, treats for the soul

I have a Doberman and our vet flagged DCM risk. We added these as a daily snack alongside taurine-rich kibble and her last echo showed no concerns. May be coincidence, but I'm keeping these in rotation. She also looooves them.

Tiny pieces, huge value

What I love about these is they're already the perfect training size — no breaking required. I can keep them in a treat pouch and rapid-fire reward without fumbling. Cleanest ingredients I've found in this category.

My agility dog won't work for anything else

Run agility competitively with my sheltie. Tested 6 different high-value treats over the last year and chicken hearts won by a mile. She'll actually break drive on a tunnel for these — and she doesn't break drive for anything. This is gold.

Subscribed and never going back

Tried the bison and beef as well, but chicken hearts are the winner in our house. Three dogs, three different breeds, and they all love them. The subscribe-and-save makes the cost very manageable. Auto-ships every 4 weeks like clockwork.

Strong smell but dog loves it

These do have a noticeable smell when you open the bag — fair warning if you're sensitive. Once they're in a treat pouch outside it's not an issue. My pug genuinely loses his mind for them so the smell is forgiven.

Good for puppies in training

Got a 4-month-old golden retriever puppy and we use these for socialization rewards. Easy to break for very small portions. Still rich enough to keep him engaged. Just be careful not to overdo it — I broke the 10% rule once and we paid the price.

Works well, ships fast

Order arrived in 3 days, no damage. Treats are exactly as described — small, high-aroma, very motivating for my dog. I'd give 5 stars but I had hoped for slightly more pieces per bag at this price. Still buying again.

Solid product, expected slightly more per ounce

Quality is undeniable. Single ingredient, no additives, dog approves enthusiastically. Math on per-ounce vs other freeze-dried brands is tighter than I'd like, but the trust I have in the sourcing keeps me coming back.
